How Pay works
What Pay keeps track of, who sees what, and where to find it in the MellowTools app.
Pay works out what everyone is owed from your shows, one week at a time: what each helper earned from the shows they ran, their tips and their logged hours, and what each consigner is owed for the shows you sold for them. Pay lives in the MellowTools web app at app.mellowtools.com.
Pay does not send money. You pay people the way you always do, then mark them paid in Pay, so everyone can see what was paid and when.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- To start your own team, your MellowTools plan must include Pay.
- Helpers and consigners do not need a plan. They join from an invite. See Join a team as a helper or consigner.
Find Pay
Section titled “Find Pay”Step 1: Open Pay from the menu
Section titled “Step 1: Open Pay from the menu”Go to app.mellowtools.com and sign in. In the menu on the left, under the Pay heading, are Pay’s pages.
As the team’s owner you see This week, Shows, Work, Consigners, Team and Report. Click This week to start.
Step 2: Check which team you are on
Section titled “Step 2: Check which team you are on”Your team’s name is at the top of every Pay page, after Pay ·. Click it to open the team list. When you are on more than one team, pick the team you want here.
Your teams at the bottom of the list shows every team you are on.
What Pay counts
Section titled “What Pay counts”Step 3: Read the week at a glance
Section titled “Step 3: Read the week at a glance”This week shows one week, Monday to Sunday in your team’s time zone. Across the top:
- Net from Whatnot: what your shows earned, using Whatnot’s completed earnings
- Runner pay: your helpers’ share of the shows they ran
- Consigner payouts: what your consigners get from those shows
- You keep: what is left
Tips go straight to the runner, so they are listed under the totals and are not counted in what you keep.
Step 4: Know who is on a team
Section titled “Step 4: Know who is on a team”Every team has one owner and can have:
- Admins: people the owner trusts to help run Pay. They see the whole team’s pay and can add helpers, invite people and change settings. They cannot make other admins, hand the team on or delete it.
- Helpers: the people you pay, who run your shows or do work like shipping and photographing. A helper does not need to sign in. If you invite them, they see only their own pay.
- Consigners: the people you sell for. If you invite them, they see only their own shows and payouts.
The Team page lists everyone. The next two steps show what a helper and a consigner see when they sign in.
Step 5: See what a helper sees
Section titled “Step 5: See what a helper sees”A helper who signs in sees Your pay: what they earned this week, split into show cuts, tips, and hours and photos, whether it has been paid, and the shows they ran.
Helpers never see other helpers’ pay rates, what your consigners are owed, or what you keep.
Step 6: See what a consigner sees
Section titled “Step 6: See what a consigner sees”A consigner who signs in sees Your shows: what they are owed now, then each show you sold for them with their payout and whether it was paid. They can open a show to see how the payout was worked out and, when the show is linked to NotBot, the items that sold and their prices.
Consigners never see your runners, their pay or tips, or who bought each item.
If something looks different
Section titled “If something looks different”I do not see Pay in the menu
Pay shows in the menu when you are on a team, or when your plan includes Pay and you can start one. If you were invited, open the link in the invite email. See Join a team as a helper or consigner.
A page says Pay is paused
Pay pauses when the team owner’s subscription ends. Everything stays safe and readable, but nothing can be added or changed until the owner renews. Removing people and cancelling invites still work.
