Add consigners and set their splits

Set your default split, add the people you sell for, give a consigner their own split, and invite them to see their shows.

Last updated Oct 12, 2026 · Applies to MellowTools Pay

A consigner is someone whose items you sell. For each show you sell for them, Pay works out their payout from their split: a percent of what the show earned.

The payout is the split of the show’s net (Whatnot’s completed earnings), after your own items on that show are taken off, plus the show’s shipping. A show that lost money pays the consigner nothing, shipping included.

Step 1: Open Consigners and check the default split

Section titled “Step 1: Open Consigners and check the default split”

Click Consigners in the Pay menu. The Default split box at the top shows the split every consigner gets unless you give them their own, for example 50% of net, plus shipping. A new team starts at 50%.

To change it, click Change default.

Step 2: Type the new default and click Save default

Section titled “Step 2: Type the new default and click Save default”

Type the new percent in New default split and click Save default.

Step 3: Choose what happens to shows you have not paid yet

Section titled “Step 3: Choose what happens to shows you have not paid yet”

When the change would move shows you have not paid yet, Pay asks first:

  • Use 55% on the 1 unpaid show too (it names how many shows) changes those shows. Pay shows what you would owe before and after.
  • Only new shows keeps the unpaid shows at the split they have now.

Pick one and click Change split. Shows you already paid keep the split they were paid at, and shows where you set a split by hand never change.

Click Add consigner at the top right of the Consigners page.

Step 5: Type their name and pick their split

Section titled “Step 5: Type their name and pick their split”
  1. Type the name you use for them in Name.
  2. Under Their split, leave Team default or pick Their own split and type their percent.
  3. Click Add consigner.

If you add back someone you removed before, they come back with their history.

Each consigner has a line with:

  • Split: Team default or Their own split, with the percent
  • Owed now: what you owe them for shows not paid yet, or Nothing owed
  • Last paid: when you last marked a show of theirs paid
  • Sign-in: Signed in, Invited · waiting or No login

Click Open on a line to see that consigner.

Step 7: Give one consigner their own split

Section titled “Step 7: Give one consigner their own split”

On the consigner’s page, the Split box shows the split they get. Pick Their own split, type the percent and click Save split. Pay asks about their unpaid shows the same way as for the default.

To put them back on the default, pick Team default and click Save split.

Their shows lists every show you sold for them: what it earned (Net), Their payout, the split it used, and whether it is paid.

Each show keeps the split it was paid at. A show where you set the split by hand says set on this show.

The box at the bottom, What <name> sees, is where a consigner gets their own sign-in. Type their email in Their email and click Send invite.

Once they join, they see only their own shows: what each earned, their payout and whether it is paid. They never see your buyers, your runners or other consigners. The box then shows the email they signed in with and a Remove sign-in button. While the invite is waiting, it has Resend invite and Cancel invite.

I changed a split but a paid show did not change

That is on purpose. A paid show keeps the split it was paid at. To change it, open the show, click Mark not paid, then edit it.

A consigner says their payout is wrong

Open the show in Pay. Its Payouts box shows their split, where it came from (their split, team default, or set on this show) and the payout. Your own items on that show come off before the split. See Record a show.
